Samsung’s “repair mode” protects users’ data

Have you ever left your smartphone in a repair center and worried about the safety of your personal data? We are quite sure of it. And it would appear that Samsung, too, which has recently announced in South Korea the new “Repair procedure“. An option that ensures that i personal data on the Galaxy smartphone stay safe even when the repair technician is working on it. So let’s find out how it works in detail.

“Repair mode”, so Samsung protects user data

With Samsung’s new “Repair Mode” users have the ability to selectively choose what data they wish to disclose when the smartphone is being repaired. On the other hand, it is undeniable that there is always the fear that someone could illegally access photos or private contacts when the phone is sent to a maintenance center. Now, however, thanks to the intuition of the Korean company, user data will be safe. Just activate the mode by going through “Settings” and “Battery and device maintenance”, so that the smartphone is restarted.

Once activated, no one will be able to access your personal data the owner of the smartphone, including photos, messages, accounts, etc. And only the default apps will be accessible. To exit the “Repair mode”, the user must then restart the smartphone and authenticate by fingerprint or model recognition. For now, the option will be available via an update to the Galaxy S21 series smartphones and will later be rolled out to more models in the future. Indeed, it would seem that the company is willing to release the function in other countries as well. At this point, therefore, we just have to wait for it to arrive in Italy.
