The Six Nations is the European Rugby tournament which this year reaches its 129th edition with matches to be held in the cities of Cardiff, London and Rome. The tournament will last more than a month and is part of a very particular year, because it will see the teams involved in the World Cup, so it will also be an important testing ground.
Furthermore, this very edition will also be filmed by the cameras behind the scenes and will become a Netflix docu-series scheduled for 2024.
In recent years, sports docu-series have been very successful, to the point that they are very present on on-demand platforms, Netflix in particular. The very successful premiere was The last dance, a docu-series focused on Michael Jordan and his successful career with the Chicago Bulls, especially in the last year in which the team won the championship. A docu-series released during the pandemic period, with the world stuck at home, in front of the screens, one episode a week, each one well constructed and developed to create many moments of narrative climax.
Last but not least, Break Point can also be seen on the platform, focused on tennis and the main tennis players of today, but Drive to Survive on Formula 1 and Full Swing on golf are also added. The docu-series on Formula 1 has the same producers who will deal with this new work on rugby and in particular on the Six Nations. It will certainly be an interesting new product, above all because it focuses on a sport that lends itself very well to serial and television narration, thanks to its sporting philosophy and also to the social and aggregative culture that binds all its fans.
