Sonos working on the Sonos Voice assistant

According to some rumors, Sonos is working on its own service voice assistant, which will allow users to conveniently play and manage music. The feature will be part of a software update coming to the US next 1st of June, to then be widely distributed on a global scale. Like this Sonos Voice will become the alternative to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, both supported by the company’s devices. At the same time, all products running S2 software will also support Sonos Voice Control. But let’s find out more about the project.

Sonos Voice, the new voice assistant from Sonos

Recently Sonos has published a series of job announcements related to the “Sonos Voice Experience” project, born with the aim of “making voice interactions completely private, more personal and more natural“. With this in mind, therefore, the launch of a proprietary voice assistant will mark an important step in the expansion of the company. Clearly, the new function will provide users with comfort similar to those of the services offered by competitors, allowing them to play songs and / or playlists using only voice commands.

In fact, in a launch phase, Sonos Voice will support Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora e Deezer. In addition to sonos radio owned by the company. Spotify and YouTube Music, on the other hand, don’t seem to be integrated into the feature yet. Beyond this, what is certain is that the voice assistant will not record the user’s audio commands or transmit them to the cloud for processing. And, as you can imagine, just say “Hey Sonos” to access the Sonos Voice Control features. At this point, it is clear that the company has big plans for the future. Sonos’ goal, it seems, is to establish itself in the streaming entertainment industry.

“We are hiring people in software to go to new areas that we are not in today. In hindsight, it’s easier to understand that a company has been working on all of these great things. We just didn’t see it at the time “. So she commented Patrick Spence, chief executive of Sonos. The stated goal of making voice “completely private” could be another key way to differentiate yourself from Alexa and Google Assistant, both of which rely heavily on cloud computing. Although voice assistants are designed to ensure the safety of users, a large portion of the public is still very suspicious about it. Will Sonos Voice be able to convince them?
