The long awaited moment has finally come. This year’s The Game Awards ceremony was, as always, a tour de force of emotions and important announcements. During the event we were able to take a first look at the sequel to Death Stranding, or discovered the release date of Final Fantasy XVI. But in the end we were all anxiously waiting to find out which title would be elected game of the year 2022. And now we finally have an answer.

Game of the year 2022, we have a winner

The Game Awards ceremony basically saw its conclusion with a clash of the titans. On the one hand God Of War Ragnarok (here our review on the matter) the masterpiece of Santa Monica Studio recently released as an exclusive PlayStation and already distinguished by numerous awards. On the other Elden Ring, the masterful latest work of From Software, which just a few days after its launch, which took place last February, had already gathered legions of supporters who considered it their game of the year of 2022. The challenge was intense given the staggering quality of nominees, but ultimately only one was crowned Game Of The Year.

It wasn’t easy to choose, but after a fierce confrontation, Elden Ring was the winner. The first open world work of From Software, which, as regards the plot, also saw the collaboration of the writer George RR Martin, won the award for best title this year, beating the competition. It is not the first time that a work created by Hidetaka Miyazaki’s software house has obtained this recognition, as Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, their previous effort, had also been awarded this award in 2019.
