Details

This version is less dependent onx64 emulation. However, the capabilities of the emulator were improved with the aim of providing developers with a very high level user experience. This is because they will be supported by tools that run natively on Arm64. The new version presented has the following workloads enabled:

  • Desktop development with C++ (for MSBuild based projects)
  • Desktop development.NET (WinForms, WPF) using both .NET Framework and modern .NET.
  • NET and web development

Earlier this month, during the Build 2022Microsoft announced a new desktop device called Arm64 Project Volterra. this was born and specifically designed to meet the needs of developers. Visual Studio will now join Windows, .NET and C ++ with the goal of creating a Arm64 developer toolchain effective and efficient.

News with the next updates

With this particular release, Microsoft extends support to .NET Framework in the form of the .NET Framework 4.8.1 runtime and SDK. This will be available by default in the next major update for Windows 11. The preview supports Windows Forms, WPF, and web apps, but plans are underway to further expand its reach to Windows App SDK, .NET MAUI e UWP (Universal Windows Platform) in futuro.
