Although with less advanced features than Telegram, WhatsApp is still the most used messaging app in the world, and it’s no surprise that Meta is working hard to close the gap with the blue competitor. WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is testing self-destruct group chats.
Currently the tests are limited to iOS devices only, but when the time comes it will certainly also arrive on Android.
To date, WhatsApp already allows you to send self-destructing messages, even in groups, but it is the users themselves who have to set the timer for each message. The new feature will instead allow you to implement the setting directly in the groups. Within these chats, therefore, all sent messages will only be visible for the time set by the group administrator.
Administrators, in addition to being able to choose from predefined times, will also be able to set a custom date range.
Meanwhile, just these days, WhatsApp has announced that it will allow users to silence calls from unknown numbers, which will still be shown in the call list. This is a very welcome feature as it will reduce interruptions and help prevent spam calls.
