Woody Allen will be one of the first directors to inaugurate the opening of Italian cinemas with his latest film Rifkin’s Festival from 6 May 2021
Rifkin’s Festival is Woody Allen’s latest film with the collaboration of Vision Distribution and Wildside will be released in Italian cinemas from 6 May 2021. It will be one of the films that will symbolically reopen cinemas in Italy after months of forced closure.
Rifkin’s Festival is a comedy about love in the perfect director’s style and it is an Italy-Spain co-production and sees among the protagonists, Wallace Shawn, Gina Gershon, Louis Garrel, Elena Anaya, Sergi López and Christoph Waltz.
Let’s find out the synopsis of the film together, with the intervention of the Italians Vittorio Storato in the direction of photography and Sonia Grande in the costumes.
Mort Rifkin (Wallace Shawn) is a former professor and film fanatic married to Sue (Gina Gershon), a film press officer. Their trip to the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain is troubled by the suspicion that Sue’s relationship with her young director client, Philippe (Louis Garrel), goes beyond the professional sphere. The journey, however, is also an opportunity for Mort to overcome the block that prevents him from writing his first novel and to reflect deeply. Observing his own life through the prism of the great cinematic masterpieces to which he is linked, Mort discovers a renewed hope for the future. With his usual surreal humor, Woody Allen mixes situations bordering on the absurd with stories with a romantic intertwining at times bitter.
