Not exactly happy news for gamers on Microsoft consoles. Indeed, it has been confirmed that from 2023 first party games (so titles developed and published directly by Xbox) will suffer a price increase. Video games for new gen consoles (therefore Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X) and PC will be interested.
The price increase should be in the order of €10, thus aligning itself with similar maneuvers already carried out by Sony (PlayStation), Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive. Not all evils have a silver lining though, because Along with the increase in game prices, Microsoft has confirmed the availability of many of these titles in the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
The official press release reads:
“We’ve postponed price hikes until after the holidays so families can give gifts in peace. Starting in 2023, our new games developed for next-gen consoles – such as Forza Motorsport, Redfall and Starfield – will be sold for $69.99. These prices reflect the content, scope and technical complexity of the titles in question. However, all the games developed by our teams will also be available with the Game Pass from day one.”
