The new and highly anticipated Shin Megami Tensei 5 just landed on Nintendo Switch, just a few days ago, but a dataminer has already found some files in the game that could suggest the arrival of this title also on PC e PlayStation 4. According to what was discovered by the leaker, the reference platforms of the game would also mention PS4 and PC, which opens the door to a future port.
The user in question posted the results of their data mining sessions on Twitter, under the pseudonym of Pan-hime. The leak that interests us here comes from a long strip of code, which indicates, among other things, the reference platforms of Shin Megami Tensei 5, including PlayStation 4 and PC. Given that the game is currently a Nintendo exclusive, a future porting cannot be ruled out.
The hacker also found some graphics settings under the heading “PS4 Device Profile”, which include high-resolution textures, which further reinforces the idea that a version of the game for this console could actually be in development, or even ready to go.
Of course neither Atlus neither Nintendo have commented on the leak, and it is likely that we will remain in the uncertainty for a long time, if this information turns out to be true.
It wouldn’t be a first time anyway: even if Shin Megami Tensei 4 was only released for Nintendo 3DS, Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne recently received an HD remaster version for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC, paving the way for its successor on these consoles as well. It is no coincidence that Atlus had said a few months ago very interested in expanding some of its series on new platforms.
