Amdocs will provide Business Support Systems for Europe’s first fully end-to-end 5G Stand Alone (SA) experimental cloud network, recently launched by Orange in France.
Amdocs and Orange for the first Stand Alone network in Europe
The choice of Orange for the provision of Business Support System falls on Amdocs. The latter is a leading provider of software and services for telecommunications companies. The agreement provides support for the per the first 5G Stand Alone (SA) experimental cloud network in Europe, launched in July in Lannion, France
The software-enabled network, which is based on data and AI, is fully automated and cloud-native. This is a two-year project that aims to reach several hundred users by the end of 2021. The network leverages technology Open RAN. This will serve as a model for the next generation of more efficient and agile networks based on AI and data. Amdocs’ solution, which runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), will be integrated into Orange’s multi-vendor 5G network with a hybrid cloud approach.
