Apple has just made available a new update for Mac users running the operating system macOS Big Sur. Instead of macOS 11.6.1 or similar, the update is called “Device Support Update” and makes fixes to make sure iPhone and iPad update and restore via Mac are working properly.
Here comes a new update for macOS Big Sur that fixes restoring and updating iPhones via Mac
Earlier this month we saw Apple release macOS 11.6. The update brought important security fixes for two vulnerabilities that may have been actively exploited by criminals. This morning, another new update for macOS Big Sur arrived by the name “Device Support Update”.
The new update does not appear to include any changes other than the fix that allows you to take advantage of Macs with Big Sur to update and restore iPhones and iPads with Finder. “This update ensures the right update and recovery for iOS and iPadOS devices with a Mac,” Apple writes in the description.
To download and install the update, that weighs 195,6MB, you will need to go to System Preferences> Software Update. In case nothing appears, we advise you to check again in a few hours.
macOS Big Sur 11.6 may have been one of the last updates to me before the official arrival of macOS Monterey, the next version of the Mac operating system. Monterey will presumably come along with the debut of the new ones 16 ”and 14” MacBook Pro equipped with M1X processor, which is expected by the end of the year. These, in addition to a more performing processor, will offer a redesigned design, with more pronounced edges like the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro; they will be equipped – according to rumors – with an SD slot, an HDMI port and the technology will return MagSafe magnetic charging. In addition, we will say goodbye to the Touch Bar, a feature loved by Apple but less appreciated by users.
