Metroid Dread Nintendo Switch OLED: Samus Aran sta tornando

It is shortly before the arrival of the new one Nintendo Switch OLED. With the new Nintendo Switch model, which will be available from 8 October, players will have an additional option to enjoy the vast catalog of Nintendo Switch titles. Among these, there will also be a highly anticipated return, that of Samus Aran with the new Metroid Dread, we have tried it in preview for you on the Nintendo Switch OLED and together with our Fjona, we will tell you how it went.

Our preview of Metroid Dread on Nintendo Switch OLED

The last time we witnessed the space exploits of the legendary Samus Aran dates back to 2017 on the Nintendo DS. Samus’s absence was starting to take its toll on Nintendo’s latest console and now we’re finally able to get her powers and abilities back in hand for another exciting adventure. Metroid Dread is the direct sequel to Metroid Fusion, released way back in 2004 on GameBoy Advanced. The events of this chapter pick up exactly at the end of Fusion with Samus being infected with Parasite X and being dispatched by the galactic federation to Planet ZTR. Contact with the parasite resulted in the temporary loss of all the skills learned in the course of the previous chapter, but by continuing in the game, we will be able to acquire all its fantastic powers.

We have had the opportunity to try Metroid Dread only for the initial stages of the game where we find ourselves without skills and attacked by an army of hostile robots that will hinder the exploratory phases. Like the most classic of the Metroids, also in this case we are faced with a horizontal scrolling arcade title with a frenetic and fun rhythm. The game features exploratory and combat sequences that will give you a lot of trouble especially in the early stages of the game, when you will be deprived of all powers.

There is no shortage of enemies and tough bosses that will put you to the test, but fear not, the vast arsenal of weapons is just for this. Samus’s cannon arm, for example, will be extremely useful for ranged attacks and can be operated at 360 degrees thanks to the analog sticker, so you can shoot with precision even on the move.

Although it does not represent a real revolution among horizontal scrolling titles, for what we have seen Metroid Dread defends itself extremely well and will be able to entertain both fans of the saga and newbies. It goes without saying that the game is at its best on the new Nintendo Switch OLED model.
