According to what was announced, WhatsApp is currently at work a ‘Catalyst universal app which will allow it to run smoothly on macOS e iPad. Let’s find out all the details together.
WhatsApp is the new app for macOS and iPad
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently working on a new app to be released on the project MacOS Catalyst. The post published on the official blog says:
What does the macOS app look like? Just like the iPad app we spotted recently. They have the same interface but WhatsApp for macOS Catalyst will have some UI improvements needed to properly use the app on a desktop interface.
The new WhatsApp app for macOS apparently looks very similar to the iPadOS app – however there are some minor user interface changes, useful for allowing the app to adapt to the desktop experience, just as the post above states. In all likelihood, this new Mac app will replace thecurrent WhatsApp app for macOS and will no longer rely on a connected smartphone.
The new apps will be supported by the multi-device capability, allowing users to use their WhatsApp account on a maximum of four different connected devices even when their main smartphone it is not connected to the Internet. WABetaInfo said the service will enable the macOS support at a later date, suggesting that the iPad app may be released first.
At the moment we don’t know for sure when the apps are released. However, we can guess that they will arrive shortly, particularly because Mark Zuckerberg himself has hinted that this new version would arrive by the end of the year.
For now, all WhatsApp users can try the multi-device compatibility, even if it is located in public beta. For the iPad app, on the other hand, users have to wait for the version 2.0 of the multi-device function. For more information you can consult the official website.
