20 years after its official release, Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance became available on PC. This video game is set up as an action-RPG, as well as a spin-off of the great adventure of Bioware Dungeons & Dragons. Its release dates back to 2001, in that of PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance. After receiving a console remaster, the game finally landed on PC as well.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance is available on PC
Dark Alliance is a rather atypical video game for the Baldur’s Gate series, as it partially sets aside its more strategic soul in favor of a focus on action rather than on the GDR component. In the title we will be able to choose between different characters with which to start our adventure: an elven sorceress, a dwarf warrior and a human archer, each of which has specific strengths and weaknesses.
Dark Alliance was well received on all four platforms it came out on, with the PlayStation 2 version in particular winning the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences award for “Role-playing game of the year“Right in 2001, its year of publication.

Our adventures in the game world will instead split into three main macro areas that will lead us to venture through the sewers under Baldur’s Gate to the peaks of Burning Eye Mountain, passing through the subsoil of the kingdom. Of course we will not necessarily have to face this adventure alone, since we can have another player at our side, thanks to local cooperative mode o in remote play, che Steam supporta.
Although the game seemed to have disappeared into thin air, it’s nice to see that it finally made it to the digital shelves of Steam. Emblematic in this regard are the words of Black Isle, developers on Twitter: “It’s a pleasure to offer you a present just before the holiday season: Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance is here on PC! And some of you believed it wouldn’t be out this year! “.
