Capcom Cup canceled: “Health and safety have top priority”

After the recent news regarding Grammy’s and the Sundance Film Festival, this time it is the world of esports that pays the consequences. Capcom has indeed announced that the Capcom Cup 2021 has been officially canceled, and with it also the highly anticipated Street Fighter League: World Championship 2021. As far as we know, it is likely that the event will be reorganized at the end of the season.

that’s how Capcom has announced the cancellation of the event expected for February 2022:
“With the increase in cases of COVID-19, including the Omicron variant, causing uncertainty and many complications globally, Capcom is once again in the difficult position of having to cancel the Capcom Cup. The team did not take this. decision lightly, as we know what the Capcom Cup means to the community and to the players who have trained so hard to qualify. The entire esports team extends our sincere apologies. We wanted nothing more than the return of the event in a big way, but the health and safety of the players and everyone involved are our top priority. “
