More interesting soulslikes coming if you liked Elden Ring
Bleack Faith Forsaken
Let’s start this selection with Bleack Faith Forsakena horror action RPG that takes up the lesson taught by Dark Souls back in 2011. In this case we find ourselves struggling with an indie project funded on Kickstarter and which is proposed as an open world video game, exactly like Elden Ring, albeit with clear differences in terms of production values.
The development team is made up of Mišo Vukčević, lead developer, artist, writer and sound designer, and Mirko Stanic, co-developer and programmer, while Cal Freundlich and Rade Vukcevic are the composers of the soundtrack. The game has also already shown itself in a video gameplay and should arrive in the course of 2022, even if it still lacks a definitive release date.
Steelrising
Steelrising is a new action RPG from Spiders the same developers who developed The Technomancer e Greedfall, two interesting games but not without many critical issues. The game is set in a steampunk version of Paris ruled by Louis XVI, and at the moment the software house has stated that it should launch in June 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X/S.
According to what we have seen so far, the game seems extremely inspired in terms of atmospheres and design, and we have also been able to see some fragments of gameplay in the various trailers released over the past few months. To get a better idea, however, we will have to wait for the release date, even if the premises based on action and brutality are absolutely interesting.
Lies of P
Lies of P is an action role-playing game developed by Neowiz and which should arrive on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X / S and Google Stadia in the 2023. The title rewrites the story of Pinocchio in a horror key and aims to offer a hardcore gaming experience inspired by FromSoftware masterpieces and in particular by Bloodborne. The inspiration for the latter title is particularly evident both in the design and in the gameplay.
In fact, the game seems to take up the concept of Trick Weapon seen in Blooborne, to apply it in a broader way through the main character, who is in fact an automaton. The concept of transformable weapons therefore takes on even more relevance in the gameplay, which according to what we have seen so far seems extremely frenetic and fun. Of all the upcoming soulslike ones, this is the one to definitely keep an eye on.
Black Myth Wukong
In closing we cannot avoid mentioning Black Myth Wukongthe soulslike in development at Game Science and which is inspired by the novel Journey to the West from around 1500, the same writing from which Akira Toriyama drew inspiration for the creation of Dragon Ball, just to understand. While the game’s release date is still a long way off, the developers have already shown quite a few really compelling trailers.
The title is in fact developed in Unreal Engine 5 and features graphics and gameplay that look truly remarkable, based only on the videos shown. Black Myth will be able to live up to expectations, it could become one of the revelation games of 2023, but unfortunately it is still too early to say for sure.
