In an official press release Take-Two Interactive announces that “after careful consideration” the company has decided to stop the sales of its video games in Russia and Belarus.

From GTA to NBA 2K: No more Take-Two video games in Russia and Belarus

No more GTA in Russia and Belarus. Take-Two Interactive joins the chorus of videogame distributors (and not only) who condemn the war in Ukraine. As a response, the company has therefore decided to stop the sales of its securities on Russian and Belarusian soil. GamesIndustry.biz reports that game sales, marketing and services have already been suspended in the two countries. According to data from Newzoo Grand Theft Auto 5 – developed by Rockstar Games but distributed by Take-Two, is the third most played video game in Russia. The figure takes into account the monthly users on the various platforms.

The company therefore joins what has already been done by other giants such as EA, Microsoft, CD Projekt Red and Epic Games. The official announcement came with a statement from Alan LewisTake-Two’s vice president of corporate communications, which reads:

“We have witnessed with sadness and concern the events taking place in Ukraine. And that is why, after careful consideration, we have decided to stop the distribution, support and marketing operations in Russia and Belarus “

In another piece of news we have instead told you about the lawsuit that Take-Two is facing in the United States due to the loot boxes of the NBA 2K franchise.
