Apparently Microsoft is testing Minecraft ray tracing on the latest generation Xbox consoles. Here’s what we know.

Minecraft: ray tracing in arrivo su Xbox

As reported by The Verge, Microsoft has finally begun testing for ray tracing support in Minecraft on Xbox Series X | S consoles. A new preview build of the game, available for Xbox Insiders only, includes limited support for ray tracing. The latest test build is also marked as “optimized for Xbox Series X | S”, suggesting that we can expect a patch for new-gen in the near future.

Fans of the famous sandbox video game have long been waiting for ray tracing support on Microsoft consoles, after a first announcement by the company two years ago. This, in December 2020, finally arrived on the version of the game for Windows 10, however, leaving gamers on consoles dry-mouthed. On Windows 10, ray tracing is particularly noticeable in water reflections or in-game shadow rendering. That the wait is finally about to end?
