Earlier this month, the App YouTube Vanced it had quite a few security problems, yet the developers publicly stated that it would continue to work. At least until the changes to the YouTube API have permanently eliminated it. Therefore, users who own the application now see Google Play Protect mark Vanced Manager as “dangerous”requiring de facto uninstallation.

In the last few hours, Android users who have installed the Vanced Manager App have received a series of notifications from Google Play Protect stating that the App is “harmful” and “puts the device at risk”. In reality Vanced Manager it is not quite the same application as YouTube Vanced, but rather a sort of “App Store” to keep the primary application up to date. In short, something very similar to the way in which Fortnite is distributed on Android through the Epic Game Store.

On the other hand, at this moment Google Play Protect is installed on the vast majority of Android smartphones for ensure the safety of users. As you know, this tool can monitor malicious apps and behaviors, and then warn users upon installation or soon after. In this regard, it is not clear why Google has suddenly labeled Vanced Manager as a dangerous app, even if the giant made the decision after having sounded the opinion of users. The comments on Twitter and Reddit have not been good at all. And this will have convinced Google to intervene, also considering the background of the App.
