Meta Knight’s Revenge: from the Kirby soundtrack to the Grammy
Originally composed for the soundtrack of the Kirby Super Star videogame in 1996, Meta Knight’s Revenge was reinterpreted last year by The 8-Bit Big Band. A version so appreciated that it was nominated as Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella at the Grammy Awards 2022. And not only that, because the song also won, despite the competition from the candidates Bill O’Connell, Emile Mosseri e Robin Smithwhose rendition of Braveheart’s For The Love Of A Princess featured the London Symphony Orchestra.
The 8-Bit Big Band, as its name suggests, is known for its jazzy arrangements of video game soundtracks. The project is curated by the arrangers Charlie Rosen e Jake Silvermanwho accepted the Recording Academy award from the Las Vegas stage, complete with an enthusiastic acceptance speech.
