Meta aims to introduce a monetization system for virtual creations in the metaversoand seems to want to hold back almost 50% in commissions. In fact, it should apply them both at the level of the app store for Quest VR and at the level of the social Horizon Worlds.

Meta recently announced a really important news for the future of metaverso. In fact the creators in Horizon Worlds they will be able to sell their virtual creations. We are talking about objects for avatars (jewels, clothes, accessories of all kinds) but also about VIP access to the worlds they create in social in virtual reality.
Meta explained that will ask for 30% of the creators’ takings in Horizon Worlds. But it will not be 30% of the full price: in fact an additional 30% will already be collected at the platform level in the Meta Quest Store. So 30% of the store will add a further 17.5%, for one total commission of 47.5%. Percentage confirmed by Meta spokespersons.
The company explained they think the percentage is “highly competitive in the market”. Yet in June Zuckerbergspeaking to the creators on Facebook, he had announced that until 2023 they would not ask for commissions on the content.
