STEP FuturAbility District. To really understand it, you should experience it. Because yes, we can try to describe this new project to you Fastweb but, once you have embarked on the 10-stage route hosted by this place, you will really have clearer ideas. And above all a great desire to build your future, and that of the entire planet.
But, as you well know, our job is just that: to tell you what surrounds us and to share our experiences with you. So let’s take a step back (one step, if you like) and start from the ground up.
What is that STEP FuturAbility District?
It is a technological, informative and experiential space, which arises from the desire to connect the community with the near future, to explain how we are evolving and above all to give people, of any gender, age and background, the digital skills necessary to face change.
But this is the theory.
How does it work in practice?

STEP FuturAbility District it is not an abstract place but a physical environment that you find in Milan, in Piazza Adriano Olivetti 1.
Tuesday 31st May will officially open its doors to the public and it will be open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9.30 to 19.00.
The opening will be anticipated Saturday 29 and Sunday 29 May from an “open doors” weekend, with free admission from 9.30 to 21.30 which will allow the public to have a first taste of the rich program of meetings, workshops and laboratories that will animate STEP. The visits along the two days will alternate with the appointment with Telmo Pievani, philosopher of biology and expert in the theory of evolution (Saturday 28 May, 5.30 pm) and workshops for children and their families who inaugurate the Sunday cycle @STEP (Sunday 29 May, 11:00 and 15:30).
What is going on inside the STEP FuturAbility District?
At the heart of the experience there is an itinerary consisting of 10 stages, that you will face using two very valid assistants: the dedicated application and FORWARD. The first is essential to access the experience because the path involves constant interaction between you and the surrounding environment; in fact you will have to answer the questions that will be asked and approach a series of elements that will help you discover something more. But more about what? Up artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, 5G and even on the evolution of the world of work.
He will take care of it to guide you FORWARD, virtual creature and voice guide that will mark the stages – or rather, the STEPS – of this itinerary.
The first meeting with FORWARD
The journey in STEP, which thrilled us from the first to the last minute, does not end at the end of the visit. On the contrary, the end of the path could represent a new beginning. Your answers and interactions with the environment allow an algorithm, created in collaboration with the University of Milan – Bicocca, to receive a score, a percentage that measure your FuturAbility, that is the attitude towards the future.
They will then be associated with your profile i Next step, that is specific indications on courses, workshops, laboratories and useful advice to improve, grow and become an informed and aware actor about the infinite opportunities for growth that digital innovation offers us.
But that’s it. As anticipated, STEP will also be animated by scientific-cultural meetings and conferences, with exceptional speakers who will speak on issues related to the digital world and the major issues of contemporary society, with the aim of providing visitors with food for thought and in-depth analysis.

A group effort
STEP FuturAbility District was born from Fastweb’s desire to do something for the country. But the operator – who invested millions of euros in this project – did not do everything alone. Actually STEP received the Patronage of the Municipality of Milan and the support of RCS Group, Boston Consulting Group, Samsung Electronics Italia, Plenitude e Trenord.
