The 13th generation Intel Raptor Lake ES CPU has been subjected to all benchmark tests to study its performance
The CPU Intel Raptor Lake ES Intel (here for more on the company) backed up a full battery of benchmark tests, courtesy of Expreview. This upcoming 13th Generation Core CPU from Intel has a speed limit of maximum clock of 3.8 GHz and, as such, it tests against a Core i9-12900K clocked at the same speed, for a fair comparison. Both CPUs were used with an unknown Z690 motherboard, 32GB of DDR5 5200MHz memory with unknown timing, and a GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics card. According to Expreview, the 13th generation CPU is on average around 20% faster than the 12th generation CPU, although the eight more E-Cores may have something to do with this in some benchmarks.
Intel Raptor Lake CPU Test Results
In Sisoft Sandra 2021 the ES champion is up to 51.5% faster in double precision floating point testwhich is the extreme outlier, but has an advantage of about 15-25% in most other tests. In many other tests, it is ahead of anything from less than three percent up to 25 percent, with the most multithreaded benchmark types seeing the biggest gains. However, in some of the single-threaded tests, Alder Lake is outperforming Raptor Lake by 10 percent or more. For example in Pov-Ray and Cinebench.
Most gaming tests favor Intel’s 12th Gen over the 13th Gen ES champion, though it’s possible that the limited clock speeds are holding back the Raptor Lake CPU. The two are head to head or Alder Lake is ahead on some heads, albeit only slightly. Keep in mind that it’s still early days and everything from UEFI support to drivers will be improved before Raptor Lake launches later this year. There’s also the limited clock speed which will likely play a significant role in final performance as well, but that at least provides a first taste of what’s to come.
