Increase the price of Amazon Prime.
This is communicated by the e-commerce giant itself that today has started sending emails to its subscribers to communicate the change in cost. From the current € 36 it will go to € 49.90 per year. An increase that will be effective starting from 15 September 2022.
Amazon Prime: Increase the price
After all, we expected it a bit.
In the United States, the Amazon Prime subscription costs $ 139 a year. It was therefore unthinkable that in Italy the price would remain stationary at € 36. And so, after 4 years, the Seattle company decided to increase the cost and get to € 49.90 per yearwhich become € 4.99 per month for those who have decided to opt for the monthly subscription.
The increase will be effective from 15 September 2022. But what does it mean for users?
If your subscription expires before this date or if you decide to subscribe before September 15th, then the rates applied will be those currently in effect. If, on the other hand, the subscription takes place and expires after this fateful date, then the new prices will be used.
The reason for this change? Amazon explains it in the email it is sending to its subscribers in these hours:
“This change is made on the basis of, and in accordance with, Clause 5 of the Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions. The reasons for this change are related to a general and substantial increase in the overall costs due to inflation, which affects the specific costs of the Amazon Prime service in Italy and are based on external circumstances, beyond our control. “
We are therefore faced with the second price increase for Italy. The first in fact took place in 2018, when the cost of the subscription went from € 19.99 to the current € 36.
The question is: is it worth spending € 49.90 for Amazon Prime?
Well honestly it is difficult to say the opposite considering the benefits included, from access to Prime Video to fast shipping, from Prime Reading to Amazon Prime Music, through the rewards dedicated to gamers and the free subscription to a Twitch channel.
