Mark Zuckerberg come back to talk about himself. A photo that immortalizes the CEO of Meta at the age of eight has become a ‘opera NFT. This was made possible by Zuckerberg himself, on the occasion of the announcement of the Instagram App’s support for NFTs in at least 100 countries worldwide, excluding Italy. So let’s find out more about the new function.
Mark Zuckerberg launches NFT support for the Instagram App
Another news from Meta, which finally announces the support of the Instagram App for NFTs. Users will finally be able to connect their digital tokens to the platform, so as to use them as profile images at will. And to show the public the novelty Mark Zuckerberg has turned into NFT a photo of him from 1992: the official Little League card, in which he was part of the Red Robins team. “In honor of the expansion of collectible digital NFTs to 100 other countries on Instagram and the launch of new integrations with Coinbase and Dapper, I share my NFT baseball card, which someone recently found and sent,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.
A launch that comes at a rather particular moment for Meta, which he has recently declared the first quarterly loss in its history. A decline that the company seems to share with the NFT sector, which proved to be slightly down from its initial expectations. Not surprisingly, the data reported by the Dune industry analysis site show that OpenSea, one of the main NFT sales portals, has had little activity from May to today. So, the question we ask ourselves is this: why did Meta choose to focus on a sector that is not doing well? We are not given to know. We wait to understand if the photo of Mark Zuckerberg as a child will be enough to push users to use NFTs on Instagram.
