Apple would be thinking about adding some advertising in Apple Maps, showing attractions and businesses in search results that pay to enter your map. This alleged novelty would arrive next year, with Apple intending to enhance its advertising services.
Apple Maps: advertising arrives starting next year
Mark Gurman had already talked about it in his newsletter: Cupertino is thinking about differentiating and focusing more on services. If iPhone remains the company’s flagship product, subscriptions like Apple Music or Apple TV + they are becoming more and more important to the company’s accounts. And also the advertising it will have to grow for revenue.
L’Apple’s App Store already shows in the search some applications that have paid to have a privileged seat. The advertising for Apple Maps they will be similar: companies will be able to invest money to re-enter searches based on keywords and geographical areas. For example, if you search for “Sushi in Rome” you may see advertising results.
According to Todd Teresiin charge of the financial management of the Apple, the advertising revenues currently generate about 4 billion a year. The goal is to reach at least double figures, exceeding 10 billion.
Gurman reports that Cupertino engineers are already working on software that supports sponsored results in Apple Maps search. According to the analyst, this news should arrive by next year. In all likelihood, Apple will find a graphic way to indicate which results are ads and which come from organic search.
