Toyota Motor Italy decided to support Italy Shines – Constellation 2022the project promoted by the association The Itinerant Sky to stimulate interest in STEM subjects. The goal is to “foster inclusion by igniting curiosity for science in girls and boys through the great inspirational potential of space, including stargazing.”
Toyota Motor Italia and Il Cielo Itinerante want to bring students closer to STEM subjects
The tour, which began on April 21 and ended in October, brought science into 50 Municipalities in all Italian Regionsin areas normally further away from the major centers and with greater social difficulties ed economic. It has in fact concentrated with several stages in the Regions where the results of the latest mathematics tests of the Invalsi tests have highlighted the major shortcomings.
As a Mobility Partner Toyota has made a new one available to the project Toyota Proace set up with four professional telescopes who accompanied the professional astronomers of theINAF. In this way they offered girls and boys the opportunity to observe the sky through latest generation professional tools. In the same way it was possible to involve them in laboratories, quizzes and experiments in STEM subjects.
The project is part of the program Education joint ofESA andBUT promoted by Samantha Cristoforetti who shared her experience with the children by making connections from International Space Station, involving them in activities that stimulated them to look at the sky. The astronaut represents a positive model for the youngest and also an incentive to deepen scientific subjectschallenging any stereotype and prejudice.
A message of encouragement
It is a encouragement message in the spirit of the vision of Toyota ‘Beyond Zero’ whose goal is to achieve a better society, without prejudices or stereotypes, limitations or barriers. Beyond Zero aims at a mobility model that poses the man in the centerwhere zero emissions are not the goal but one stage of the route towards a better, inclusive, environmentally sustainable society.
During the stops of the tour Toyota also organized some innovative workshops for students and brought all his experience into the development of hydrogen mobility with the Toyota Mirai.
