The sales of Samsung smartphones they also drop in India, where in third quarter 2022 the Korean company registers an 11% drop. One million fewer smartphones (from 9.1 to 8.1 million) rcompared to the same period last year. But the company remains the second by market share in the country.
Samsung, smartphone sales also drop in India
According to the new Canalys report, Samsung reaches the silver medal in the Indian market, with a percentage of 18%. A decrease of 1% from last year. But that still brings the Korean company closer to Xiaomiwhich remains first but loses three percentage points of the market (with a drop in sales of 18%).
Among the top five producers, only Oppo it grows compared to last year (+ 14%), reaching very close to the third step of the podium where it is located vivo (7.3 million for vivo and 7.1 million for Oppo). But it must be considered that Oppo’s sales include those of OnePlus. realme loses stakes and sells 6.2 million smartphones. Instead, other companies are growing.
The decline in sales in India corresponds to a period of general difficulty for Samsung’s smartphone market. And more generally, for the entire mobile world.
The last two years have been particularly positive for the technology market, with sales driven by the increase in smart working and distance learning. But with these declining practices and with rising inflation, smartphone sales are slowing down.
However, it should be noted that sales of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, two top-of-the-range smartphones, went well. A sign that inflation is mainly affecting those with less spending power. While more expensive smartphones still sell pretty well.
