Apple would stand for change the activation command of one’s own voice assistant on iPhone: and “Hey Siri“To simply”Siri“. But it’s not that simple, especially taking into account all the various accents that global users of the Apple have.
“Siri” is the new command to wake up the Apple voice assistant
According to analyst Mark Gurman on Bloomberg, the Cupertino engineers are working to make it even easier to use Apple’s assistant. But to switch to the one-word activation command, “Siri”, you’ll need “un significant work to train AI and the underlying engineering work “. So much so that we may not see the news before next year or even in 2024.
The main problem, according to Gurman, is that Siri will have to understand the activation word in different accents and dialects around the world. The two words “Hey Siri”, simple as they are, make it easier to understand when users need the assistant.
This change would put Apple on par with Amazonwhich for some time now allows users to call their assistant simply “Alexa”To execute commands. And it would do better than Googlewhich requires users to say “Ok Google” o “Hey Google“. Although Google Assistant has the ability to execute new commands after the first without the need to repeat the activation word (and also other interesting news announced this year).
According to Gurman, however, this change isn’t the only one that’s coming for Siri. In fact, Apple should announce shortlyand new integrations with third-party apps and services, as well as general improvements for the voice assistant.
Along with recent innovations like sound activation and more inclusive voice options, Siri is improving one voice command at a time.
