Discord today announced that PlayStation 5 Beta program participants can finally use the platform for voice chat. The company also let it be known that the feature will become soon available for all players.
The announcement comes through a post on the official blog, and was followed by the publication of a short video, a sort of teaser, which reiterates the novelty. At the moment an exact date has not been announced by which Discord will be available to all PS5 users.
Discord arrives on PlayStation 5: what we know
Apart from the teaser just mentioned (which you can find below), the details are rather scarce. For now we know that those who are part of the PS5 Beta program will receive an email containing an access code. Players will need to access their consoles Settings to link Discord to their PlayStation Network account.
Once both accounts are linked, testers will be able to use Discord voice chat on PS5. Additionally, users can access the mobile version of Discord and click “Join on PlayStation” to transfer voice chat from their smartphone to the console.
Discord aside, the latest PlayStation 5 beta will be testing several new community-requested features. These also include variable refresh rate support, the ability to initiate or request a screen share from friends’ profiles, a new Join Game icon for group chat, and more game library options.
The full list of features under test can be found on the official PlayStation blog.
