Twitter Blue is now available worldwide. The paid membership offers its users several benefits, including sign up for blue tick, longer tweets, the ability to edit posts, and other options. From today, even governments and institutions from all over the world can ask to use the gray check to be recognized.

Twitter Blue still costs $8 a month by signing up via the website or $11 via the iOS app. The blue check mark distinguishes subscribers from other users – although compared to before it is no longer a sign of an important account, but only of those who have paid.
Also, tweets can be up to 4,000 characters long. And there is ability to edit posts to correct any errors or change your mind after posting something. Other options include a increased visibility in replies, a reader mode for articles, and custom themes.
But it’s not just individual users who can benefit from Twitter ticks. The government organizations can now request gray checkmarks which attest to their authenticity and authority. To do so, they must provide proof of their identity and role through official documents or emails. Commercial organizations can apply instead golden check marks which indicate their reputation and credibility.
Twitter launched Twitter Blue in November 2022, but faced some challenges. Some users have taken advantage of the blue check mark to impersonate famous or influential people, creating confusion and misinformation. Twitter then blocked new subscriptions to Blue ehintroduced the new gold and gray check marks in December.
With the global rollout of Twitter Blue, Twitter hopes to increase its revenue from subscriptions and retain its most active and passionate users. THowever, it remains to be seen whether the features offered by Twitter Blue will be attractive enough to convince enough users to pay for the service. An inside source says there were only 180,000 subscribers in mid-January.
