Netflix announced this week that its plan Base with advertising is now also available for users of Apple TV. This means that those who subscribe to the ad version of the streaming platform can enjoy Netflix movies and series on their own Apple devicenatively.
Netflix Base with ads also comes to Apple TV
Netflix’s Basic with Ads plan costs money only 5.49 euros per month and offers unlimited streaming of (almost) all Netflix content in standard quality. The only real downside is that you have to put up with some advertisements while watching. The announcements are quite short and not too frequent: it is about 15 or 30 second spots which appear every 15 or 20 minutes.
Netflix introduced the ad-supported plan in November last year, but it wasn’t initially available on Apple TV. This made it difficult to access for those who had purchased the discounted service on their Apple device.
To watch Netflix on Apple TV with the Basic plan with ads, you need to update the app to the latest version available. If you have an old or outdated Apple TV, you can only watch Netflix with the Basic, Standard or Premium plans.
The possibility of saving a few euros therefore becomes possible also for those who have decided to take advantage of Apple TV and tvOS as their entertainment operating system. By updating the application, you should be able to access your streaming content. However, the update may not arrive immediately for everyone.
To check go up Settings > System > Software updates and select Update software. If an update is available, select Download and install.
