Recent years have shown how technology is at the heart of every aspect of human existence.
Semiconductors power essential technologies in a world that is becoming increasingly digital. 2022 has been a busy year for Intelaccording to what was stated by the Corporate Sustainability Report 2023. In fact, the company finds itself operating in a difficult market, while simultaneously pursuing the multi-year transformation plan. To overcome these challenges, Intel maintains its usual commitment to the highest ethical standards, and we use our resources and ingenuity to solve the world’s biggest challenges.
Intel, the Corporate Sustainability Report 2023 in favor of the environment
The dedication to environmental, social and corporate governance it is the key to Intel’s success as a company. The recent passing of the co-founder of Intel Gordon Moore just remember this dedication. Moore was a great philanthropist and laid the foundations for the commitment to environmental sustainability even at a time when other companies did not pay the attention that is paid today. This is an important part of his legacy and why corporate responsibility and sustainability are deeply ingrained in the company’s DNA.
Intel’s last year results according to the 2023 Corporate Sustainability Report
There have been some results in the past year in implementing sustainability initiatives across the industry.
Encouraging the value chain to adopt sustainable practices
Reach them net zero greenhouse gas emissions it is one of the most complex challenges facing the technology sector. In 2022, Intel committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions internally and across the value chain. The goal is to reach the 100% renewable electricity, a “net positive” return of water and zero waste to landfill by 2030. Work continues on the roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve net zero in all activities globally by 2040.
Intel also collaborates with industry and academia to identify, develop and experiment alternative “green” chemistry solutions and abatement of emissions, many of which do not exist today. For example, he is working with the SEMI industry association and the Semiconductor Research Corporation to establish a sustainable semiconductor manufacturing program to develop alternatives to harmful chemicals currently in use. Additionally, they are increasing the energy efficiency and reducing the total carbon footprint of our products and platforms while also helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals.

We invest in electricity from renewable sources
Intel aims to work with local utility providers to develop new procurement mechanisms that facilitate construction of renewable electricity projects close to many of our sites around the world.
In addition, on-site renewable and alternative electricity generation installations have grown exponentially over the past decade. Today there are more than 110 on our campuses. Indeed, at the end of 2022, the global use of electricity from renewable sources is 93%up from 80% in 2021. The company has focused on finding credible and scalable opportunities to reach 100% globally by 2030.
Intel unveiled the most sustainable data center processors ever
The new generations of Intel products are designed to deliver higher performance while using less energy. The processors Intel Xeon Scalable fourth-generation models are equipped with integrated accelerators to promote energy efficiency and performance.
Compared to increasing the number of cores in the CPU, accelerators are a more efficient way to get higher workloads. This gives customers an edge in data center performance, efficiency, security and new capabilities for artificial intelligence (AI), the world’s most powerful cloud, network and edge and supercomputers. There is a commitment to improve processor utilization through better energy efficiency, AI-powered telemetry, and lower carbon platforms.
In 2022 we also witnessed the historic approval of the CHIPS and Science Act in the United States. This was a victory for the semiconductor industry as well as American technology leadership and innovation. It will strengthen American semiconductor research, development and manufacturing, ensuring US leadership in the technology that underpins everything from home appliances to defense systems. The public-private partnerships they are essential to generate the large long-term investments needed to develop the technologies of the future.
