The dawn of the past of Huawei’s smartphones on our continent seems distant but they have not completely calmed down. In this article we will compare the performance, the price and the compromises to reach for the lack of Google services after the US ban, which is still impervious, and we will find out if Huawei still has something worthy to offer.
Our review of the Huawei P60 Pro
Il new top of the range from Huawei boasts all the features that a smartphone of this range should have combined with a truly unique design. We are facing a smartphone with display OLED da 6,67″a processor Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and a main camera with 48+48+13MP triple lens. All enclosed in a beautiful elegant and flashy pearl shell.
Yes, but… the Google apps? We know this question has been buzzing since the beginning of this article, and we’ve devoted an entire paragraph to it.

Design
As anticipated, this smartphone boasts a truly unique design of its kind. The The Huawei P60 Pro is available in two colors, Black and Rococo Pearl. The latter, which is also the version used to make this review of the Huawei P60 Pro, boasts a pearly texture pleasant to the touch and sight. The random design of the pearl makes it extremely variable therefore it will be impossible for two smartphones to have the same pattern.
What smartphone presents dimensions in line with the market of this range, 161 x 74.5 x 8.3 mm for about 200 grams of weight. All in all the returned feel is really excellent, with great handling for all hand sizes. On the back of this elegant body we obviously find the triple rear camera slot with a large porthole for the central lens, a telephoto lens and a macro camera.
The right side of the smartphone has the only physical on/off and volume management keys while the lower side houses the drawer for the Nano SIM and Micro SDan audio output (the second one is on the upper side) and the input USB-C for charging. In this regard, inside the package, together with a transparent cover and the instruction booklet, we find the charging socket with its cable with support for the 88W SuperCharge fast charging
Technology
Il Huawei P60 Pro boasts a 6.67 “Quad-Curve LTPO type display which in addition to guaranteeing excellent video quality, offers excellent grip thanks to the curved edges. Not missing one refresh rate up to 120Hz and thanks to the HUAWEI X-True displaywe will be able to enjoy accurate colors and vivid details.
Under this elegant shell (which we can’t stop looking at), we find a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. Even if it is not the most recent on the market (arrived at Gen 2), we are certainly facing one of the best performing processors capable of performing any function, even the most demanding ones. To support this we also have 8 or 12GB of RAM (expandable) and 256GB or 512GB of internal memory, also expandable.
Closes it all a wide 4815mAh battery with support for 88W SuperCharge fast charging which will allow you to charge the battery from 0 to 50% in just 10 minutes. Not only that, thanks to technology BatteryCare battery life can be further extended.
Camera
The camera set is not only beautiful but also performs well. Leading, physically and otherwise, is La 48MP Ultra Lighting main camera con Self-adjusting physical aperture f/1.4–f/4.0 able to acquire a large amount of light and therefore to improve the performance of the photos even at night. Revolutionary light absorbency and high dynamic range make details and contrasts vivid, pulling them out of the shadows and bringing them to the fore on the display.
Next we find a Ultra Lighting telephoto lens, featuring a multiple, self-propelled lens group with a large aperture of f/2.1. This translates into an outstanding capacity in the represent the details as faithful as possible to reality even if they are poorly lit, reducing blur and increasing accuracy. The triptych closes 13MP Super Macro camera capable of representing every minute detail of the closest subjects.
Supporting the cameras we also have Huawei’s software and technology such as the new imaging engine HUAWEI XD Fusion Pro. Cooperating with the AI learning algorithm, the software features a texture imaging channel that reproduces the details of objects in a real way. The same technology and quality can also be found in the 13MP selfie camera.

Our test of the Huawei P60 Pro
We tested the new Huawei P60 Pro for about two weeks during which he accompanied us in everyday life and also during the smartphone presentation trip to Munich.
In case you didn’t understand during this one reviewil design del Huawei P60 Pro it has kidnapped us to say the least. In addition to texture, truly innovative, the feel given by the product is truly excellent. Not only on the back, satin, which leaves no fingerprints, but also on the display, really well made and smooth. The whole smartphone gives a great sense of solidity (boasts a IP68-rated splash, water, and dust resistance), a sign of the use of excellent materials.
As if that weren’t enough, the best is inside with a high-end processor, large RAM and memory and the support of software that make everything move in an excellent way. During our test we never encountered signs of yielding or slowing down even in the most extreme stress situations.
Even the AIs move in an optimal way and adapt some of the characteristics of the smartphone to the use we make of it. Among these, we particularly appreciated those dedicated to the health of the battery which can, for example, stop charging at 90% instead of maximizing it. This allows the battery not to overcharge and increase the battery life span. As for everyday use, we were never able to drain the 4815mAh battery in a full day, fully approved.
The camera test
The camera of the Huawei P60 Pro proved to live up to expectations with excellent shots even in low light conditions. The software and AI support that this smartphone offers move to give us the best shots in any situation. The optical zoom up to 10x and up to 100x in digital is also excellent

Video side, the smartphone offers the possibility of shooting with a maximum resolution of 4k at 60 fps for more than good results. The sharpness of the frames, the focus and above all the optical stabilization which, together with the electronic one, manages to better absorb the sudden movements of the hand are excellent.

“Yes, but… the Google Apps?”
Now we come to the fateful question, what about Google apps? No, the Google PlayStore is not present in this Huawei P60 Pro. Indeed, we find theAppGallery on Huawei which offers an ever-increasing number of applications but not the most commonly used Google applications and therefore related services such as Google Drive and so on.
However, this shouldn’t scare you too much. The App Gallery itself will provide you with logins to Authorized (and legal!) third-party AppStores. For example, if you search for “Google Maps” in the search bar, the AppGallery will direct you to the service AppParks which will act as an intermediary between your smartphone and Google services to be able to download them in complete safety. Other Apps not present on the store, such as YouTube or Whatsapp, can be downloaded using third-party apps such as Gbox. The situation is different with some games, such as Genshin Impact or Wild Rift, which are difficult to recover.
In short, there are ways to use Google services even on Huawei and they are not shady at all. You just need to do some research and don’t be intimidated by any US embargoes that might come between you and the fulfilling experience that the Huawei P60 Pro can give you.
