After two retro-inspired mobile video games, Netflix is considering developing a big-budget Stranger Things game. The indiscretion comes from Edge Magazine who interviewed Leanne Loombehead of Netflix games.
Up to this moment Netflix has already released Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3: The Game. The first was released in 2017, while the second in 2019. Both titles are part of the catalog Netflix Gamingthe collection of mobile games exclusive to subscribers to the streaming platform.
What can we expect from the new Stranger Things game
“As we launch more and more games we are learning a lot from the industry and preparing ever more complex gaming experiences through AAA studios,” said Leanne Loombe. Let’s remember that triple-A games mean high-level titles, with big budgets and with well-known development studios. “The Stranger Things games that we have, for example, are fantastic, but I don’t think we have made the Stranger Things game yet , the one that is truly connected to the universe and the characters that fans love,” said Loombe.
A few months ago Netflix also announced that Stranger Things VR would arrive by the end of 2023, a virtual reality game that will put players in Vecna’s shoes. At the moment, very little is known about the project.
