Apple today announced the arrival of new tools and software technologies that enable developers to create innovative apps for Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s first “spatial computer”. With visionOSthe world’s first space operating system, Vision Pro allows the user to interact with digital contents as if they were physically present in his space and control them with the most natural and intuitive means of input available: the eyes, the hands and the voice.
Apple Vision Pro, l’SDK per visionOS
Starting today, the global community of Apple developers and developers will be able to build an entirely new class of spatial computing apps that take full advantage of the infinite potential of Vision Pro and further blur the line between digital content and the physical world to deliver extraordinary new experiences . With the’SDK per visionOSapp developers can take full advantage of the powerful features that make Vision Pro and visionOS unique to create entirely new experiences in categories such as productivity, design, gaming and more.
Next month Apple will open labs at Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and TokyoHere, developers can test their apps on Apple Vision Pro hardware and receive assistance from Apple engineers. Development teams will also be able to request special kits to quickly and directly create, improve and test their apps on Apple Vision Pro.
Apple Vision Pro, le app per visionOS
“Apple Vision Pro redefines what is possible on a computing platform. Developers can start building apps for visionOS using the powerful frameworks they’re already familiar with, and take it a step further with innovative technologies and tools like Reality Composer Pro to design entirely new experiences,” he said. Susan Prescott, Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations di Apple. “By taking advantage of the space around the user, spatial computing opens up new possibilities and development teams can imagine new ways to help people connect, work and play. We can’t wait to see what our developer community will be able to imagine.”
Apple Vision Pro, the technologies used to create new experiences
Developers can create new experiences by leveraging the revolutionary features of Apple Vision Pro and using the same core frameworks they already use for other Apple platforms, including powerful technologies like Xcode, SwiftUI, RealityKit, ARKit e TestFlight. These tools allow you to create new types of apps that offer a truly immersive experience: in-depth windows that display 3D content; volumes that create experiences visible from any angle; and spaces with unlimited 3D content that allow you to fully immerse yourself in an environment.
Reality Composer Pro
To help developers optimize the 3D content of visionOS apps and games, Xcode offers Reality Composer Pro, a brand new tool for previewing and preparing 3D models, animations, images and sounds to make apps and games perfect on Vision Pro. The new visionOS simulator also offers the possibility to interact with apps and try out layouts of environments and different lighting conditions. Finally, each framework integrates Apple’s innovative accessibility features, so visionOS apps and spatial computing are accessible to anyone.
Starting next month, 3D game and app developers with the powerful Unity authoring tools will be able to port Unity apps to Apple Vision Pro and take full advantage of its powerful features.
Complete HeartX, 3D available for medicine
Early testers of the visionOS SDK and APIs are excited about the potential of the platform and how it can create entirely new user experiences:
“Con Apple Vision Pro, Complete HeartX it will help prepare medical students for real-world clinical practice using hyper-realistic 3D models and animations to help them understand and visualize medical topics such as ventricular fibrillation and apply their knowledge to patients,” said Jan Herzhoff, president of Elsevier Health “Complete HeartX on Apple Vision Pro will revolutionize medical education and prepare future healthcare professionals for work.”
The djay app to have a complete DJ rig at your fingertips
With the app djay on Apple Vision Pro, the user will have a complete DJ rig at their fingertips. Thanks to the new spatial interface, anyone can remix their favorite tracks and apply effects in real time with a simple movement of the hands or eyes”, explains Karim Morsy, CEO of Algoriddim. The djay app on Vision Pro is aimed at beginners and professionals, and transforms the surrounding space into incredible environments that automatically react to the user’s mixes and allow you to interact with music in ways not possible before.”
JigSpace for fast and effective communication
“JigSpace and Apple Vision Pro enable people and businesses to communicate their ideas or present their products in entirely new ways,” he says Zac Duff, co-founder and CEO of JigSpace. “The app uses your existing high-resolution CAD files to enable your marketing, sales, product or service teams to collaborate securely with each other and with customers around the world to get to the heart of any matter faster. Before, such fast and effective communication was simply impossible.”
PTC’s AR Solutions
“Manufacturers can use AR solutions from PTC to collaborate on solving important problems concerning individual products or entire production lines, bringing interactive 3D content into the real world,” said Stephen Prideaux-Ghee, Chief Technology Officer di AR/VR in PTC. “With Apple Vision Pro, managers across departments and locations can simultaneously review content to make design and operational decisions. Such a collaboration was previously impossible.”
