Nothing announces its Phone today (2)which has a powerful processor and top-of-the-line design, as well as a higher price than the first version. In fact, Nothing aims at a higher end of the market with its new smartphone, with Phone (2) which has a price starting from 679 euro. In this article we tell you about it all the features and our first impressions on the smartphone.
Nothing Phone (2): price, features and first impressions
After three years and 1.5 million devices sold between smartphones and earphones, Nothing is back with the second edition of its Phone. And this time, after having launched an interesting mid-range product with the Phone (1), it aims higher. You can already see this from the material choices in the device, which has frames in it 100% recycled aluminum and a curved glass back under which there are Glyphs rethought in everything – even in functionality.
Indeed, Nothing has “broken” the lines of LEDs on the back of your smartphone, in order to have multiple separate zones and enable new features. In this way, we can customize the notifications, so that we can hold the smartphone with the screen down but still stay connected. Using Essential Notifications, for example, you can choose certain apps whose notifications will stay visible until you open the apps.
In addition, there comes the possibility of using Glyph lights as a timer or as a ring light for filming. And just press and hold the flashlight shortcut in settings to turn them all on.
Not only that, comes the integration with other applications (for now there is only the tracking of the arrival of Uber, even if not in Italy – but Nothing promises new arrivals). And especially the composer. This way you can create your own ringtone and your own light pattern (try it, it’s fun).
Technical specifications: processor, camera and display
Nothing has decided to equip its Phone (2) with a processor Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, one of the main reasons for the price increase. It promises performance better than 80% compared to the previous version of Phone, opening applications at double speed.

This makes the operating system much faster Nothing OS 2.0, based on Android 13. An operating system with few extra apps (but there’s the Nothing X app for headphones, like the Ear (2) we reviewed here). But with a lot customization. In fact, one of our favorite things are the new widgets and dark theme for your smartphonewith a minimalist app design that really impressed us.
Il 6.7-inch OLED displaywith technology LPTO from 1 to 120Hz and brightness from 1600 nits, allows you to admire this new graphic. But we will tell you about the display in detail in our full review.
As for the cameras, we have a 50MP+50MP dual sensor, while in front you will find a sensore da 32MP per i selfie: double last year. At the moment we cannot go into detail with tests on the camera, but know that the new Image Signal Processor, the use of improved HDR shots and many changes in the camera software make the difference compared to the Phone (1). Also, comes the possibility of registrare in 4K a 60 fps, taking advantage of both OIS and EIS stabilization.
The battery from 4,700 mAh can be recharged via USB-C cable (also semi-transparent) and the ricarica Qi Wireless da 15Wwith also reverse charging for 5W headphones.
Nothing Phone (2): price and availability
Il Nothing Phone (2) will arrive with a basic price of 679 euros in the 8+128GB version, which however will only be available on the Nothing eCommerce. Instead, the version from will be available both on the official website and in physical and online stores 12+256GB at 729 euros and the 12+512GB one at 849 euros.
In Italy, you can buy Phone (2) in some specific WINDTRE stores, with dedicated exclusive offers. On the site, you will be able to pre-order the device from July 17 at midnight, with deliveries scheduled for July 21.
The Phone (1) cost 499 euros at launch (and now costs significantly less), marking a large price difference. We’ll dig deeper into this difference in the full review, but in the meantime: what do we think?
First impressions
Nothing’s new smartphone is reminiscent of its predecessor unique feature of the Glyphs, although they have changed this year. But the impression holding both in hand is of a more premium device, with the recycled aluminum finishes and the slightly curved glass back.
The minimal software experience it has more character than last year, making even more use of the Nothing “look”. But without obligations: you can choose an experience very close to the stock Android one, if you prefer.
In general, it seems to us that the smartphone has improved compared to last year, even if making comparisons is more complicated due to theincrease in the price of Nothing Phone (2). If last year the company was aiming for the mid-range, this time it is aiming for the beginning of the high-end. Where the competition becomes excellent. We will tell you how it competes with other smartphones in this range in the full review.
