Meta doesn’t stop: after launching Threads, Mark Zuckerberg’s company introduces animated avatars for video calls on Instagram and Messenger. A function that he first launched in the metaverse, but which now also arrives for interactions on the most used social networks in the world.
Meta avatars arrive in Messenger and Instagram video calls
Meta announces the arrival of avatars for video calls, which were already present in VR on the Quest platform and now they are also accessible for video calls on Meta’s social networks. These avatars can be used as an alternative for video calls, in addition to the “audio only” and to the traditional call with webcam.
Instead of showing our face, we can choose an avatar that looks like you. Something that can only be fun on many occasions. But that in some moments it can be very convenient: for example if you think you are not “presentable” – or maybe if you don’t want to show where you are spending your holidays while your friends are still in the office.
You can activate the avatar at any time by selecting the dedicated option during the call. So you can switch to the view at any time and for any eventuality.
In addition to this novelty, Meta has also launched stickers of personal avatars, which you can use both in messages Messenger e Instagram that in the comments of Facebook. This way, you can share reactions that are more “personal” than simple emojis.
The update should become available to everyone today July 12thdirectly in the apps.
