The blue bird has flown away, this time for good. On the morning of Monday 24 July, Twitter has changed its name and logo, officially becoming X. The decision was made by its new owner, Elon Musk, who had announced the news with a tweet the night before. The new logo was designed by social media user Sawyer Merritt, who responded to Musk’s open call to create a new logo for the “new” social media.
From Twitter to X: the sign removed but the police intervene
But that’s not all: in these hours the Twitter sign with the blue bird symbol – which had stood on the San Francisco headquarters building since 2012 – was removed by some workers. The sign occupied a vertical section of the corner of the building, located at the intersection of 10th Street and Market Street. You can admire it in the photo below.

However, the removal of the sign had not been authorized nor communicated to the security and the owner of the building. For this reason, the San Francisco police intervened on the spot, interrupting the work of the workers for a few hours. After verifying that everything was up to standard, the police let the operation resume.
The blue bird has flown away, and will never come back.
