iPad Pro: a large OLED screen (and more) coming soon

Next year the iPad Pro will arrive in the seventh generation and Apple seems willing to bring several innovations to the device: starting from the M3 chip up to an OLED screen and larger than we are used to seeing.

iPad Pro: OLED screen, M3 chip and all the other news to come

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg told in his Power On newsletter several new features coming to the tablet, explaining that Apple would be trying to relaunch this product whose sales are less dynamic than desired after 2020.

One of the most awaited revelations concerns theintegration of Apple’s M3 chip into the upcoming iPad Pro. Current iPad Pro models are powered by M2 silicon, and the introduction of the M3 chip is expected to bring a lot more significant increase in performance. Especially since the chip has an improved manufacturing process. And it will include one 8-core CPU and a powerful 10-core GPU. This increased processing power should be paired with better battery life, according to rumors.

Gurman’s revelations also shed light on the updates of the display that the new iPad Pro will offer. Apple is apparently making a bold move by integrating OLED panels in both 11- and 13-inch models. These panels should improve the reproduction of colors, sharper and brighter, as well as more accurate.

As Wes Davis points out on The Verge, this technological change could also lead to substantial innovations on a functional level. Both the iPhone Pro and the Apple Watch, both featuring OLED screens, boast display sempre attivi (Always-On). And seen the recent iOS 17 launch of the feature StandBy dell’iPhone Pro, which turns it into a kind of smart display or alarm clock when plugged in left on nightstands and countertops, it seems possible that Apple wants to introduce a similar feature for the iPad. Such a feature would turn the iPad into a touchscreen control center for the Apple Home ecosystem.

New accessories and possibilities

In addition to the advancements in the tablet itself, it looks like Apple has something exciting in store for accessories as well. The possibility that one The revamped Magic Keyboard is announced alongside the seventh generation iPad Pro it could bring the tablet even closer to the laptop experience. The inclusion of a larger trackpad than the previous model could make a difference in “notebook” use.

iPad Pro 14 inch

These innovations announced by Gurman may not be the only ones. The Bloomberg reporter called this the most extensive redesign since 2018 for iPad. On that date, Apple announced iPad Pro, which promised to bring the experience between tablet and computer ever closer. Perhaps next year, this promise could be fulfilled. But for more details, we should wait until we get closer to the launch date.
