OpenAI Announces ChatGPT Enterprise, AI for Business

We keep talking about artificial intelligence, and from different perspectives. A sign of how AI, especially the generative one (i.e. capable of generating new content) is destined to enter our lives in an increasingly overbearing way.

To limit ourselves to one of the most debated topics, i.e. the more or less gloomy forecasts on the impact that artificial intelligence will have on the world of work, in recent days we have given you an account of two studies with very different outcomes.

The first report was published by the ILO, the International Labor Organization, a United Nations agency that promotes social justice and human rights, especially in the workplace. The surprising result goes against the trend of the majority of similar studies. And it tells us that, if supported by the right policies, AI will generate more work than it takes away.

But here comes a few hours later a research by Confartigianato, according to which artificial intelligence (limited to our country) puts more than 8 million workers at risk.

OpenAI annuncia ChatGPT Enterprise

In this heated climate (but it always has been since the introduction of ChatGPT), OpenAI announces on its official blog the forthcoming birth of ChatGPT Enterprise.

And it does so with a note published on Monday 28 August. But what is ChatGPT Enterprise, what will its function be, and who will it be addressed to?

What is ChatGPT Enterprise

In a nutshell, ChatGPT Enterprise is the version of ChatGPT designed for companies.

And it’s the quick answer to Bing Chat Enterprise, the Bing for companies unveiled by Microsoft in July.

OpenAI thus adds ChatGPT Enterprise to the free and private version of ChatGPT, and to ChatGPT Plus, at a cost of 20 dollars a month, which allows you to navigate faster and take advantage of some new features.

The need to develop ad hoc artificial intelligence for companies, we read in the note, arises from the fact that today as many as 80% of companies use ChatGPT at various levels. According to the top management of OpenAI, the time has therefore come to dedicate to legal entities a more professional version of the chatbot that is more attentive to the needs of security and privacy, as well as capable of better performance.

What we know about ChatGPT Enterprise

Some companies have previewed ChatGPT Enterprise, which will soon be available to all companies.

Without going into excessively technical details, let’s say that the Enterprise model – also trained with company data – will first of all have a higher level of security.

It will comply with the SOC 2 data protection standard, and all chat conversations will be encrypted both locally with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2.

A new admin console will manage team member logins. The reference model will still be GPT-4, but performance will be increased by 200%. You will be able to obtain information more quickly and accurately, and you will be able to ask more complex questions to ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Enterprise will also allow access to the Advanced Data Analysis tool, what was previously Code Interpreter.

The cost? Contact OpenAI

From the official note we then discover that further features will be added in the future. Is that companies interested in installing ChatGPT Enterprise should contact the OpenAI sales team. Which, in addition to providing more details on the software, will communicate the cost of the subscription.

Sam Altman’s company also announced that special rates will be applied to small companies. OpenAI’s ambition is to involve a large number of companies already in the coming weeks.

AI and business

Companies will always have the double option of switching to ChatGPT Enterprise or staying with the free version used by individuals.

Right, the most important qualitative leap will be that relating to safetygiven some problems that the software has revealed in recent months.

OpenAI has announced that Enterprise users will have full control and full ownership of their data. And business conversation content will not be used for software training.

The new ChatGPT for companies will not only guarantee maximum protection of sensitive data, but also the customization of accesses and much more in-depth statistics tools.
