Over the past 25 years, Google has gone through a series of transformations and technological advances, which Pichai underlines by explaining how communication has changed in recent years. From the days of waiting a long time for an email response to the ease with which we share massive data today. Citing the example of his son who, disinterested shrugs while using technologies that twenty-five years ago seemed like science fiction.
Pichai points out that since Google Search, in this quarter century Google has launched 15 services with over half a billion users, six serving over two billion.
But Google also looks ahead. Also stressing the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in the future of Google. “Making AI more useful for everyone and implementing it responsibly is the single most important way we will deliver on our mission for the next 10 years and beyond,” she writes.
He concludes by saying: “Our search for answers will lead to extraordinary technological advances over the next 25 years. And in 2048, if, somewhere in the world, a teenager looks at everything we’ve built with artificial intelligence and shrugs it off, we’ll know we’ve succeeded. And then we’ll get back to work.”
