It took less than two days to Starfield to reach 1 million players, and less than three to reach 6 million. These are the numbers of what was one of the most anticipated games of the year, which arrived on September 6th on Xbox consoles and PC.
Of course, there are those who were able to get their hands on it a few days early thanks to the early access of the Premium Edition and the Constellation Edition, but the numbers remain stellar. Literally.
The game, developed by Bethesda, puts the player in the role of a space explorer dealing with a mysterious alien artefact. It is essentially a space action RPG set in a boundless open-world full of planets and solar systems to explore (and an almost boundless variety of missions and activities to carry out).
Starfield numbers: 6 billion players in less than 72 hours
Further data confirming the success of the launch comes from Steam metrics. Valve’s platform reveals that the peak of users occurred on Wednesday, the day of launch, with well 269,177 connected players to play Starfield. A result which, although incredible, failed to undermine the record of Baldur’s Gate, with 373,504 players. In any case, Starfield is currently in first place in the sales charts on Steam.
The numbers on Xbox, on the other hand, are those published by Microsoft, which also had to correct itself. Yes, because if yesterday (Thursday 7 September) Xbox announced that it had reached 1 million players, today it had to specify that i Starfield players became x6. However, there is one detail to remember: the game has been available since launch on Xbox Game Passso subscribers to the service can play it for free.
In any case, Microsoft has also published reviews of Starfield, which are receiving very high ratings from the sector press. Speaking of Starfield reviews: you can read ours here!
