For about half an hour, i.e. from 11am on 18 September 2023, users of Italian post have encountered problems accessing the site and to access via SPID, which appears to be down. Although it seems that the situation is gradually normalizing for the site, which is online for us personally, technical problems remain in accessing the Public Digital Identity System (SPID).
UPDATE at 12pm on 09/28/23: The SPID also seems to be working again.
SPID down, technical problems for Poste Italiane
Poste Italiane users have reported problems accessing the company’s website, with a surge in reports on Downdetector: hundreds starting just before 11am this morning. These inconveniences have created concern among those who depend on Poste Italiane for various services, including related ones to payments, shipping and other daily operations.
However, according to our internal tests in the editorial office, it seems like it that the Poste Italiane website appears to be back online and working. But the same is not true for SPID. Here is the screen we are faced with when trying to log in to the Revenue Agency website via Poste Italiane SPID.
As you can see, some related difficulties still remain access to the Public Digital Identity System (SPID). SPID allows users to access numerous online services securely, using a single digital identity. Not being able to use it means that access to various services is impossible.
Given the rapid return online of the site, it seems that Poste Italiane and the competent authorities are addressing these issues promptly. However, the widespread popularity of SPID for accessing services could cause problems for many people. However, at the moment there are no official statements from Poste. We will keep you posted.
UPDATE at 12pm
It seems that the SPID is also working again. Some users may still experience delays in access, but the emergency appears to have passed. We will update you in case of further developments.
