YouTube will help creators and artists with AI-powered products
The announcements – which demonstrate the potential of AI for creators, artists and the creative industry – include a number of new products.
- Introducing Dream Screen, a new generative AI feature that facilitates creative expression in Shorts: Later this year, YouTube will introduce Dream Screen, a new experimental feature that will let creators add AI-generated video backgrounds or images to their Shorts by simply typing an idea into a prompt. With Dream Screen, creators will be able to generate fantastic new settings for their short films, without limiting their imagination.
- Since launching in 2020, Shorts has achieved more than 70 billion daily views from more than 2 billion registered users each month.
- The YouTube Create mobile app to simplify video production: To help anyone create and share videos directly on YouTube, the platform today launched a new mobile app called YouTube Create, designed to let creators get started with a suite of production tools to edit their Shorts, longer videos, or both .
- The app offers video editing tools including precision editing and trimming, automatic captions, voiceover capabilities and access to a library of filters, effects, transitions and royalty-free music with beat matching technology, so that less experienced creators can produce their videos on YouTube more easily.
- During the development of YouTube Create, YouTube engaged with more than 3,000 creators.
- YouTube Create is free and is currently in beta on Android in select markets including the US, Germany, France, UK, Indonesia, India, Korea and Singapore.
YouTube and AI, here’s how to always find new and interesting ideas
Beyond this, YouTube unveiled additional ways it supports creators to ease their workload and more efficient tools to help them find new ideas and reach new audiences.
- Aloudan AI-powered auto-dubbing product that lets creators reach audiences who don’t speak their primary language.
- Available to a selection of creators, the feature is currently being tested in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
- Next year, assisted research in Creator Music will make it easier for creators to find the soundtrack for their videos. Creators can simply type a search query and the AI will suggest the most appropriate music.
- Creator Music is currently available in the US and we look forward to expanding it as quickly as possible.
- Next year, YouTube Studio will leverage generative AI to prompt video ideation and encourage creative brainstorming. These insights are customized for each channel and based on what audiences are already watching and interested in.
- YouTube has been testing early versions of AI tools in YouTube Studio with creators. Over 70% of respondents said it helped them develop and test video ideas.
