Some code strings discovered in the latest version of the TikTok suggest that the company is considering the idea of launching a monthly subscription plan which will allow users to enjoy the app without advertising.
TikTok considers an ad-free subscription
While TikTok has not yet officially confirmed its intention to introduce a paid subscription plan, findings made by Android Authority suggest that testing is about to begin. During the testing phase, the ad-free experience on TikTok will be available for a monthly price of $4.99. However, the final price may change once the service is officially released.
This move would represent a significant shift in TikTok’s strategy, as the company has so far relied mainly on advertising revenue to generate profit. A monthly subscription plan would allow TikTok di diversify its sources of income and offer users an ad-free experience.
However, it remains to be seen what additional benefits might be included in the subscription. Some similar platforms, such as X (Twitter) e YouTubeoffer not only the elimination of ads, but also additional features such as access to exclusive content or the ability to download videos for offline viewing.
If the test is successful, we may see a wider implementation of this direct payment model. Which could also bring benefits for creators, depending on the extra features included in the subscription.
However, it must be emphasized that at the moment we are only at an internal testing phase. We don’t know what the subscription might include. Nor whether TikTok plans to try it internationally or only in certain areas, at first. We will keep you informed.
