Apple, no iPad until March 2024
According to a recent newsletter from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has no plans to launch new iPad models until March 2024. This news comes alongside confirmation that Apple is currently working on a A basic 11th-generation iPad, a 7th-generation iPad Mini, and a 6th-generation iPad Air.
Although many were waiting for iPad news already last week, Apple’s only announcement in the sector concerns the arrival of a new Apple Pencil with USB-C connector. According to Gurman, this new digital pen will definitively replace the first generation of Apple Pencil with the announcement of the iPads expected in the spring: Apple will no longer produce that pen with Lightning charging. Also because the USB-C connector has been part of the iPad device lineup for some time.
The Apple Pencil with USB-C will be compatible with the 11th-generation iPad, 7th-generation iPad mini, and the upcoming 6th-generation iPad Air. Additionally, Gurman mentioned the possibility of a iPad Pro update. Although it seems that there is no confirmation on the Pro models at the moment.
In addition to the end of the first generation Apple Pencil, Apple will also discontinue the ninth generation iPad. In this way, it will no longer have models with a Lightning cable, now that the iPhone also uses USB-C.
