Samsung Auto Lock: giving users freedom of choice

“At Samsung we are constantly trying to keep our users safe from hacker attacks, and with the introduction of Auto Lock they can continue to enjoy the benefits of our open ecosystem, knowing that their mobile experience is even more protected,” he said Seungwon Shin, EVP & Head of Security Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “We always try to give our users the ability to choose what best suits their needs – rather than deciding for them – and AutoLock is no exception.”

One of AutoBlock’s features is to prevent apps from being installed from unauthorized sources, known as sideloading. Those who use sideloading safely will not experience any changes as the Auto-Lock feature is turned off by default. For those who are not experts in sideloading, the activation of Automatic lock it can provide greater peace of mind by blocking any social engineering attacks such as voice phishing, where attackers could convince users to install malicious software.
