During the last financial results conference, Apple confirmed its commitment to developing solutions based on generative artificial intelligence. Tim Cook, CEO of the Cupertino giant, responded to analysts’ questions by revealing that AI and machine learning (ML) are at the heart of the innovations of new Apple products.
Cook also highlighted how some features of iOS 17 (such as Personal Voice and Live Voicemail) are concrete examples of the application of these new technologies.
Apple and Artificial Intelligence: a question of moral responsibility
Tim Cook also spoke about the importance of a responsible approach towards generative AI, recognizing the potential risks if poorly managed. Cook confirmed that Apple is investing significantly in this fieldbut remained tight-lipped about specific details of ongoing projects.
“When it comes to generative AI, we have – obviously – work underway. I won’t go into detail about what it is, because – as you know – we don’t. But you can bet that we are investing, we are investing quite a bit, we will do it responsibly and you will see over time some progress in products where these technologies are at the core,” Cook said in his speech (via Sammobile)
