Sony has announced the release in Italy of the new “slim” version of its latest generation console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5). Let’s discover together all the technical (and price) features of the new version.
What is the PlayStation 5 Slim (and what changes compared to the PlayStation 5)
The new version features a revision of the original design, which aims to reduce the bulk and weight of the console, without altering its performance. The PS5 Slim presents itself with a slimmer and more compact appearance than the previous model, with a 30% volume reduction e 18% weight (or 24%, depending on the variant).
In fact, Sony offers two variants of the console (as is already the case for the PS5). A with integrated Blu-ray Disc player and a Digital without player. However, it is possible to purchase the Blu-Ray player separately, and connect it as desired.
From a technical point of view, the Slim version does not present anything new compared to the original PS5if not for a little one increase in SSD storage capacity (which now offers 1 Terabyte of space (compared to 825 GB of the original model). The PS5 Slim also includes a new support for horizontal positioning of the console, while the one for vertical positioning becomes an accessory that can be purchased separately.
Finally, Sony announced that at the beginning of 2024 new covers will be available to customize the console. The colors announced are Black, Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue and Sterling Silver.
PS5 Slim in Italy: release and price
The PS5 slim will be available in Italy from tomorrow (Friday 24 November 2023), both in physical stores and on the official PlayStation website.
The version Slim with Blu-Ray player will be available at the price of €549.99while with €100 less you can take that one home Digital without disc (449,99€). Il external disc player will cost €119.99while the new support to position the console vertically will be sold for €29.99.
